What Brings You Hope?

I walked into the church around 9:00 p.m. on the evening of First Friday.  Youth from Adoration Nocturna were gathered in prayer.  Prayer brings me hope.  What could be more hopeful than to see our youth gathered in prayer.  Truly, the faith of our youth is a source of hope, as hope is faith projected into the future.  Earlier that evening, I made a presentation on grief and hope.  Grief is good because it is a time to adapt to life without that significant person or thing we’ve lost. Those who attended shared losses through tearful eyes as we comforted one another.  “Our infinite sadness can only be cured by an infinite love,” writes Pope Francis in The Gospel of Joy.  Our true and everlasting hope is God, who is love, “a hope that does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit (of consolation) that has been given us (Romans 5:5).”
