What Are You Doing?
Many people are asking what the Parish Pastoral Council is doing.
Currently, the eight members are divided into three committees doing analysis on youth, family faith formation and hospitality and welcome. These three pastoral priorities were identified by council members and flow from our emphasis on Evangelization and Stewardship (see table). The analysis stage of each committee includes observation of what we are currently doing in these areas to arrive at what we will strive to achieve, avoid and improve upon.
Additionally, council members are interviewing parish staff and ministers and those served about their hopes. Members are also consulting diocesan leadership and reading books on their topics. Before July, each committee is to surface five concrete goals. Then the work of prayer, reflection and discernment begins. The council will make recommendations to the pastor before the end of the year.
Ultimately, the Parish Pastoral Council will make a presentation to the parish on a three-to-five-year Pastoral Plan around this time in 2026. The parish staff will then strive to implement the plan.
In Christ,
Rev. Robert P. Capone
