The Lord Delights in You

The Wedding Feast of Cana, this Sunday’s gospel, is generally considered the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry.  Jesus turns the water into wine, bringing joy to the newly married couple.  We, as baptized Christians, are endowed with spiritual gifts or charisms for use in public ministry, service.  Our second reading from Saint Paul’s letter to the Corinthians expresses it this way:

Brothers and sisters:  There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit, there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.  To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.

You have spiritual gifts!  Stewardship invites us to identify, develop and share our spiritual gifts and talents for the good of the Church.  Please take fifteen minutes to complete your own spiritual gifts inventory and discover your charisms. You can follow the QR code in the bulletin or go to www.stjccm.org/the-spiritual-gifts-inventory.  Our parish will hold a Pentecost Event in a few months when you will have the opportunity to see how your charisms can best be utilized for the benefit of our parish.  Personally, when I am using my spiritual gifts for the good of others, I feel the Lord’s delight in me (Isaiah 62).

In Christ,

Rev. Robert P. Capone
