Pastor’s Postcard – The Happiest Place on Earth

Sunday January 28, 2024

Disneyland may or may not be the happiest place on earth, but there is no where I’d rather be than in or around our Catholic Schools, especially Saint Joachim!  The breath of faith we share is refreshing, the truth we learn enlightening, our culture comforting and our mission motivating.  Jesus came not only to reveal divinity, a revelation that saves, but also to teach us how to be human.  Our school community just feels right as what we teach and how we teach it aligns with our deepest and enduring values. It is not a ride that is over in seconds or trimesters but an adventure of lifelong learning.

Catholic Schools week begins today but the theme is one we are living all year:  United in Faith and Community.  The logo symbolizes a people of faith serving God and others.  My favorite people on earth are our Catholic School Parents not only for the sacrifices they make around tuition but for their wonderful engagement in the school and parish community.  I respect our teachers for their dedication and am grateful for the leadership of Ms. Botto.  She is mission driven and guided, embracing and expressing a Catholic identity rooted in Gospel values, centered on the Eucharist, and committed to faith formation and academic excellence and service.  I feel the incredible blessing of being part of a parish with a school for the vitality the students bring to our community and the stories shared by our Sea King Alumni.  Thank you all for embracing and supporting the evangelizing mission of our Catholic Schools, and especially Saint Joachim!
