Solar Installation Starts This Week!

Our school students are off for summer vacation starting this week so the installation of our solar panels will begin on Nevin Hall and the Parish & School building.  EcoForce Solutions has already installed a transformer and conduit.  Now the rooftop work begins with nine solar arrays, each with its 590-watt modules and power optimizers.  The total power generation will be 142kW.  Our savings on utility bills is projected to be $30,000-$40,000 per year net, even after costs.  The whole project cost is around $515,000.  The money to pay for the solar project was drawn from our One Fund, a large generous grant, PSA surplus, and a few large parishioner gifts.  I am most grateful to all our benefactors and supporters of this project and for Mission Energy who has been our consultant.  If all goes to plan, we should also receive a federal rebate in 2026 or 2027 to replenish our One Fund for the parish painting project.  Please note the One Fund was started prior to my arrival at Saint Joachim and included plans for the church bathrooms, solar and church interior and exterior painting.  The installation is scheduled to be complete by the time our students return August 18th.  We will celebrate the commissioning of our solar facilities in September.

In Christ,
