Pastor’s Postcard – Meet the Santoyo Family!

Sunday November 12, 2023

Fr. Robert is getting to know our parish families.  Here are some questions he had for the Santoyo Family:

How long have you been in the parish and what do you most value?

We were married at Saint Joachim in 1990.  Our three children received their sacraments of Christian Initiation here too.  We really like the choir and the music director, Andrew Everson.  We also appreciate that there are many ministry opportunities.

Tell us about your family: work, hobbies?

We enjoy cooking, gardening and camping, especially around Mammoth Lakes.  Pablo does a half marathon every year and enjoys running and cycling.  He works in property management for a real estate firm.  Gloria works in the home now.

What role or difference does faith make in your life?

“If you stick with God, good things will come,” Gloria proclaims.  She took her children to church for Adoration, encouraging them to kneel and pray before the Blessed Sacrament.  She says that she could not live without God and the faith that brings her into relationship with Him.  Pablo says that he and his wife are united in prayer and life through faith.  Pablo was an altar server as a boy and is now an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.  He is motivated to grow in discipleship and be a good example to his children.  Pablo is also the chair of our Pastoral Services Appeal.  He says our parish may start slow, but we pick up steam as we go.

Alex and Daniel, following the example of their father, are Knights of Columbus.  Alex says that faith gives him a road map for his life, granting purpose and structure and informs how he is to live his life.  Daniel says that faith gives him a sense of community with his family and others.

Their married daughter, Darlene, lives in Texas.

In Christ,

Rev. Robert P. Capone
