Pastor’s Postcard – Meet the Leahys!

Sunday September 24, 2023

Fr. Robert is getting to know our parish families. Here are some questions he had for the Leahy Family:

How long have you been at Saint Joachim and what do you value/like most about the parish?

Elizabeth has been attending Saint Joachim for 44 years (her entire life), and Tom has been part of the parish for 20 years.

Tell us about your family; occupations, hobbies, pastimes, … where and how you serve the parish and school.

Tom is in the wine business with ONEHOPE Wine, and Elizabeth runs our household.  Grace (14) is a freshman at Mater Dei, Vivian (10) is in 5th grade at Saint Joachim School, and Thomas (7) is in 1st grade at SJS.  Our family is active, playing flag football, soccer, baseball and enjoying time at the beach.  We also really enjoy traveling together.  Our kids are altar servers, with Elizabeth heading the altar serving ministry at St. Joachim.

What difference does faith make in your life?

Tom –  Faith gives me weekly reminders of what is important in my life.  When I am active at SJC it gives me the confidence to lead by example for my family and in my community.

Elizabeth – Faith is a very important part of my life.  Making sure I attend church helps me slow down and remember what is important in life…God, my family, and helping others.  I also feel that my faith reminds me that ultimately God is in charge and when things aren’t going well, I have to remind myself that God has a plan for everyone.  Sometimes, we don’t understand the plan until we look back on things.  Knowing this gives me peace.

Grace – Faith plays a huge role in my life. Whether I know it does or it happens without me realizing. Faith shows me that no matter what happens, I will be able to keep going. My faith has also allowed me to be a part of Saint Joachim, and I am so thankful for that.

Vivian –  Going to mass gives me time to think, and faith helps me believe in things that I can’t see.

Thomas – I take time to pray for my family.

In Christ,

Rev. Robert P. Capone
