Fr. Robert is getting to know our parish families. Here are some questions he had for the Gaitan Family:
How long have you been in the parish and what do you most value?
Steven and Terry have been members of the parish for thirty-four years. Terry enjoys the community and the many friendships she has through the parish. Steve says it is our home where he feels compelled to do God’s work.
Tell us about yourselves: family, work, hobbies?
Terry and Steven first had three girls: Maxine, Lindsey and Charlotte. Their intention was to adopt one boy, but they discovered a child with two other brothers and their house was big enough to adopt all three siblings: Jack, Dylan and Chris. Turns out their home is also big enough for them to offer hospitality for parish events. Over the years a lot of people came to their home for parties and great meals. They enjoy cooking together for friends and cherish their long-lasting relationships that were established in Bible studies. Terry worked for the County of Orange for thirty years. Steven was an accountant.
What role or difference does faith make in your life?
Faith gives us hope, hope for the world and the life of the world to come, to one day be with Jesus Christ in the Eternal Kingdom. Steven was involved with the Confirmation program for his kids. He says he still needs to “step up” and “plant seeds,” to teach and work with teens to share the gospel. Teaching and accompanying the teens both expresses and intensifies his faith. Terry has had some health challenges. She says, “If I did not have my faith, I don’t know what I’d do, I’d be lost.” Steve says that “faith helps us enjoy the present and not be concerned about the future. We know God is with us and we need to trust His plan.”
In Christ,
Rev. Robert P. Capone
