Fr. Robert is getting to know our parish families. Here are some questions he had for the De La Cruz Family:
How long have you been in the parish and what do you most value?
Lilia has been in the parish for nearly twenty-five years and Francisco for two years. They married here in April of 2023. Francisco had his First Communion on the same day as the wedding. They say they are grateful for the opportunity to serve. They mentioned the ministry of Deacon Javier as very important for their life.
Tell us about your family: work, hobbies?
Lilia works at a gas station. Francisco works in landscaping during the day and washes dishes at a local restaurant at night. Sunday is their day off together and they enjoy being with one another at church.
What role or difference does faith make in your life?
Lilia’s infirmity was the impetus for Francisco to return to God and the Church. He had no one to turn to for Lilia’s healing but God. Now Lilia says “here I am, I am healed. God is my doctor, Christ my healer. Through faith, not medicine, I am healed. I receive the medicine of immortality in the eucharist. I cannot explain it, but it is something beautiful after we married in the Church. We have better communication and more patience with one another. We have more tranquility in the midst of our trials.”
