Father Robert is getting to know our parish families… Meet the Ceja Family!
How long have you been at Saint Joachim and what do you like about the parish?
Luis has been at Saint Joachim for over 20 years and has served as an altar server, a lector, music ministry, Eucharistic minister, and currently serving in the Youth Ministry. Maria has been at Saint Joachim for over 13 years. She has also served as a lector, an usher, in the music ministry, and is currently serving in the Youth Ministry and is an active member of the Neocatechumenal way. “Something we both love about the parish is the parish life. We love all the activities that go on, the processions in honor of our Lady of Guadalupe, the first Friday Holy hours, and the festivities of course! You can always catch us volunteering somehow.”
Tell me about your family, what do you professionally, what do you enjoy doing as a family?
Luis has a degree in administration from Cal State Fullerton and is also a Tax Professional who runs TaxLution, a tax resolution company. He helps taxpayers who need to file taxes as well as those who are in debt with the IRS. Additionally, Luis serves as the part time Youth and Young Adult Minister and Confirmation Coordinator at Saint Joachim. He is working on a masters degree in pastoral ministry to better serve the community. Luis has used what he has been learning in this program to develop a confirmation curriculum unique to our parish. This curriculum was designed keeping in mind our parish culture and the needs of the teens that he serves. Luis says, “This year, we will be launching a youth and young adult mass Sunday’s at 5pm, a Young Adult ministry which is already active, and a Sunday night youth ministry for all teens. Information for all of these events will be posted in the bulletin.”
Maria is a stay at home mom. She cares for their two young daughters, Iveth and Anna-Brenda. This year Maria is excited to be a Saint Joachim School Parent and bring Iveth to our great school. In addition, she helps Luis run TaxLution. She schedules appointments for anyone wanting to speak to Luis and assists with the preparation of taxes, data entry, and document filling.
“As a family we like to travel. At least twice a year we spend a few weeks away from Orange County. On a more regular basis you can catch us at Disneyland watching the fireworks or enjoying the parade.”
What difference does faith make in your life?
Faith has a huge impact in our life. It helps keep our marriage and our family centered in Christ. It gives us the fuel we need to continue to serve our community. Often times, after a long day of work, it is not easy to come and teach confirmation. However, it is our faith and our desire to teach our faith that gives us the strength to get up and be present for our teens.
In Christ,
Rev. Robert P. Capone
