How long have you been members of St. Joachim Parish and what do you value?
Leonor and I, Francisco, have been in the parish for 17 years. We feel this is our house. We like the life of prayer in our community and fellowship with other ministers. Everyone was praying for Leonor when she was sick – Adoration Nocturna and Divina Misericordia. Now she is well. What a witness to Christ the healer.
What do you and your family members do: Occupation, Hobbies, Studies?
Leonor is dedicated to the family and works in the home. I am dedicated to maintaining the home as owner and manager of Alliance Express Lube in Garden Grove. My children all work some hours in my shop and go to Estancia High School. Juliana is a senior who enjoys hanging out with the family and U.S. History. Franky also likes history and playing with Legos. Jesus, “Chuy” is a soccer player. We like to go to Triangle Square to watch movies as a family and watch LAFC soccer.
What role does faith play in your lives?
Our faith is expressed in service to Saint Joachim in liturgical ministries such as Hospitality, Lector, Altar Serving. Juliana says her faith keeps her grounded in the knowledge of God revealed in Jesus and grants vision for her life. Franky says faith shapes him into the kind of person he wants to be and keeps him true to himself, while opening him to others. Chuy says faith helps him in all he does, especially in knowing and realizing God’s plan for him. Leonor says that faith is like a flower that needs care each day through family prayer and service to others. “My faith saved me.” Francisco says that faith inspires him to help others in our community as they helped me when I needed them most. Without faith, I fall from light into darkness.
In Christ,
