Becoming Fully Awake and Fully Alive
One of the practices of prayer that can enhance our daily living is that of “becoming fully awake,” a line of this Sunday’s gospel, the Transfiguration of Jesus. Both in prayer and in activity, this being fully awake to God and aware of self can make you feel more fully alive! I feel most alive when I am using my spiritual gifts for the glory of God and the good of our community. They say it is best to work from your strengths and manage your weaknesses. Do you know what your strengths are? Do you know what your spiritual gifts are?
Please join us this Sunday, March 16, in Nevin Hall to discover your spiritual gifts. If you have already taken the Spiritual Gifts Inventory, you will want to explore what they mean. My top three are Apostleship, Discernment and Knowledge. What are yours and how are they significant? Come to Nevin Hall to discover and explore your spiritual gifts.
The next step in our stewardship of spiritual gifts or charisms will take place on Pentecost Sunday. Once you are aware and awake to the gifts you received at baptism, you will become more fully alive in the Holy Spirit through their use and expression. Each of you has the right and duty to use your charisms in the Church and the world for the good of humankind and for the upbuilding of the Church. June will offer the opportunity for you to explore what ministries at Saint Joachim align with your charisms.
In Christ,
Rev. Robert P. Capone
