Pastor’s Postcard – Can You Hold It Just a Little Longer?!

Sunday August 20, 2023

The need for some “enrichment” for our liturgical ministers surfaced during our Parish Leadership Summit in June.  I will be offering a reflection entitled “Trinity and Eucharist for Liturgical Ministers”.  Additionally, members of our parish discerning liturgical ministry are highly encouraged to attend.  We need you!  The bishops have encouraged training in anticipation of the reintroduction of the chalice at Mass. Ministers of Hospitality, the Eucharist and Lectors may attend in English on Thursday, September 21st, at 6:30 p.m. or on Saturday, September 23rd, at 10:00 a.m.  The same reflection will be offered in Spanish on Thursday, September 21st, at 8:00 p.m. or Saturday, September 23rd, at 2:00 p.m.

Our parish also needs catechists to serve in our Religious Education Programs.  We will call them forth to be commissioned and blessed for their ministry on Catechetical Sunday, September 17th.  Please see me for more information if you are discerning this ministry of teaching, a way of bearing the fruit of love by sowing the seeds of faith!

I took my first tour of our highly anticipated restrooms.  I hope we can all hold it just a little longer.  The Construction Committee under Fr. Mike’s leadership informs me that the bathrooms should be ready for use in early October.  There was a delay due to the heavy and continuous rains that fell early this year.  I am impressed by the professional planning, technical ability and transparency of Hoffman & Associates and am grateful for the expertise of Todd Thompson, our Facilities Director.

Our pastoral plans cannot be realized without you.  Thank you for your generosity in supporting our parish ministries and contributing to the new restroom project!  Please consider a liturgical or catechetical ministry so our mission of giving glory to God through worship and the salvation of souls through religious education may thrive here at Saint Joachim.

In Christ,

Rev. Robert P. Capone
