Advent and 24 Hours of Eucharistic Adoration

We begin Advent this weekend, a liturgical season of watchful expectation, to prepare for the coming of Christ.  During the first two weeks of Advent, we prepare for Christ’s Second Coming in glory, to judge the living and the dead.  During the last two weeks of Advent, we await the coming of Jesus in humility at Christmas.  The great mantra for Advent is Maranatha, Come Lord Jesus!  When we approach Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, he comes to us as the fulfillment of our deepest hopes and longings.

Our parish holds 24 Hours of Eucharistic Adoration on the first Friday of each month.  Please consider signing up for a time to be with Jesus in prayer.  The QR code here will bring you to a google form where you can write your name in for a time, or you can click here: St. Joachim 2025 Adoration Signup Form.  Saint Alphonsus Liguori wrote, “Of all devotions, that of adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the greatest after the sacraments, the one dearest to God and the one most helpful to us.”

In Christ,

Rev. Robert P. Capone
