Pastor’s Postcard – A Look at the Numbers

Sunday October 15, 2023

Our annual report is published in this week’s bulletin for your review, starting on page 7, or find it on our website (see the Annual Report button at the top of the home page). The data helps us chart our progress from year to year.  While the numbers are a call to accountability, they also serve as an inspiration when we recognize the people behind the figures.  Taken as a whole, the information shows how your contributions help fulfill our mission; We are a Church where people encounter Jesus Christ!  The Risen Lord is present through sacramental celebrations, religious education and formation, shared prayer, the service of charity and community fellowship.

My hope is that the financial support for our mission will be assumed more widely as people continue to return to worship and new members arrive through our evangelization.  Sharing the Good News will lead people to Saint Joachim where they will encounter Jesus Christ in Word and Sacrament and in the way we care for one another.  Use of the grass field for parking and our new restrooms will certainly help too.  I am convinced that the fruit of the spirit identified by Paul in his letter to the Galatians (5:22, 23) are what attract people: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  I look forward to an increase in our “October Count” when we look at the numbers again next year.

In Christ,

Rev. Robert P. Capone
